I couldn't find a definite answer for this, but if LAJedi was to have a get together (Comic Con) then would it be preferred that the costumes were VERY star wars themed?
Basically, a few friends and myself thought about modifying our Doboks (martial arts uniforms) and wearing those with sabers, but we were wondering if that would stick out too much from the group. Any thoughts?

I Say, - Work from You're own Personal Influences and Inner Designs, Star Wars is Basic, but Everyone Looks different, Evan Jedis, Alliens, Creatures of Simular Worlds, Backgrounds, Etc',.. Often Times look Very Different,... ~ Jedi Haori Style Gees Are Traditional, I Say That Would work Beauttifully Fine,... I Covered My Desing in a Post about My look too,.. It's Drawn from Very traditional JEDI(*w/ Corrilian) Influences,.. - "Dark Midnight/Navy Blue, Black, Silver, Blood-Striping, Etc'.... "+" Having a background in "Traditional Martial-Arts",.. and "Eastern-Asian History & Philosephy"{*Minor in College),.. ..I Think You're Idea Would work Quit well,........

My Jedi costume is based on a general kimono pattern, pretty much common to males, females and martial arts enthusiasts (except sumo wrestlers, who don't wear gi at all...duh.) So, gi and Jedi tunics are pretty similar. Besides, we are not a "canon" group.
I have a question: since NY Jedi & LA Jedi are both groups that do not require members to dress "canon," how many people are interested in doing "canon" costumes and how many just want to wax creative, like what Flynn did with his costume?
I see a definite place for both, and want to do at least one more canon and 1 1/2 -2 non canon, but I'm curious about how other people would like to dress at (SW) costume events.

I do not want to dress up as a large metal tube that shoots large metal balls. Thats not very Star Warsie. I'll stick to me handsome self.

...If Marius is a Canon, can I be a Howitzer? Doesn't anyone want to be a more civilized weapon for a more civilized age? PS: Padawan's guide still isn't working for me! Frak!

Aside from all the joking. We don't have to be a character from the movie(s), screen acurate, Canon, etc.
We're Star Wars fans, and most of us on a budget (including myself) which can't afford to make them Canon. A lot of LAjedi members' costumes are "Star Wars inspired".
