Hey everyone,
I am Jeremy, aka Qui-Je Sanfeng. Just found out about LA Jedi after reading about the NY branch and wishing there was a gang out here in LA. Nice work getting it going out here. I haven't got my profile all set up yet, but figured I should say hello. I am a Tai Chi practitioner (only 1 year though so have not learned the sword form yet) and am very interested in various martial arts sword styles. Am looking forward to learning some saber techniques, and sparring with some people. Anyone else out there practice any martial arts? I will try to make it this Sat to the training - might even be able to drag a friend along. I have a MR saber - is it a bad idea to learn on that (for fear of breaking it?) Should I try to whip up a practice saber before then?
a big hello to ya all

Hello There Jeremy Welcome to the La Jedi and look forward to meeting you this Saturday and you should be fine with your stock MR/FX some of us have converted or in my case custom made Stunt Sabers but for the most part almost everybody elses is still Stock. Plus all our training is on the Grass and we pull our hits when dueling.

don't know if u have a maul, but the blades ae really thick and they will take a pretty good beating. other than that, G-force is the master of the practice sabers... he can put you on the right track. if you want to do some serious battlewith your saber and don't want to shell out money for a crazy custom saber, an Ultrasabers conversion to your MR hilt s the way to go. everyone of us that has a converted saber loves it.i thnk G-force and i are the only two that broke the thick walled blades. glad you found us. Yes isn't that the truth, BarJedi I just broke another one of my new blades the other day. Stupid Concrete, strikes again but I'm now practicing on the grass in the front yard.

concrete is the darkside! there is no doubt about it. hey Qui... e practice in a park on the grass, so it shouldn't be too rough on the saber. hope to see you at one of the classes!

Qui-Je Sanfeng, welcome aboard.
As mentioned before, a stock MR FX saber is fine. We practice at the park on grass so there is no worries about breaking it. IF you still don't want to use it in fear of possibly breaking it, a piece of PVC pipe works just as good. We have plenty so don't worry about not having one when you show up (plus many members to include myself have plenty of FX sabers and wou;d not mind letting you borrow one for class).
We practice every Monday (until further notice, and let everyone know ahead of time if that get together is cancelled) behind the rec center at the park. I was unable to show up this past Monday so I'm not sure if you did go. If so, then you know where the meet is, and met most of our awesome members. Also, your Tai Chi background will be added bonus as we are open to various forms of martial arts, sword fighting, etc styles.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Once again, welcome aboard and see you around!
