Anyone out there with experience handling electroluminescent wire? I've got some questions regarding EL wire durability and flexibility outside of a polycarbonate blade, as well as cost for buying large amounts, like 5 strands of about 10 feet each.

Sorry, only thing I can say about EL is that I don't like it. My AOTC Ani is EL and it does not light up.

Well, here's my insane idea. Knowing a little bit about bullwhip construction, I was thinking of seeing the feasibility of braiding together several strands, similar to constructing a bullwhip, and using a stock saber hilt as a handle and creating a lightwhip. It probably wouldn't crack, nor would it probably be usable as a weapon, but dang it would look good.
Jedi-ana Jones?
Thoughts?

OK - I'm gonna need some help building a hilt, but with multiple connectors for the wires. Think of building a regular EL wire saber except there's no polycarb blade and there's more than one wire.
Dangit... where can I get some cheap wire?
