I figured this was as good a place as any to ask, but does anyone know a place where I could learn how to fight with a Chinese Meteor Hammer?
The weapon goes by many names, but if you need a visual reference, think Jackie Chan in Shanghai Noon with the rope and horseshoe scene, or if you remember Kill Bill Pt 1, Gogo Yubari's (the Japanese schoolgirl from hell) fighting style with the weighted chain.
I'm also researching potential lightsaber variants and a chain or line with a 'lightball' on the end is an interesting thought.
Let me know!

that sounds rad!!!! i don't know what you can do about the chain... maybe braid in some el-wire, or fiber optic cord (i think they might be the same thing)... that would be soo rad!!!

Thinking realistically (Star Wars reality, mind you), a line with a simple lit ball on the end or maybe a short cylinder, one half connected to the chain, the other half being 'lightable' seems to be the best format. The tricky part would be to make the end you keep in your hand have the switch for the ball on the far end. Theoretically, since you wrap the cord around your body and it contacts your arms and legs and stuff, you couldn't make that 'lightsaber blade' material since you'd basically be cutting off your own arms and legs, hehe.
HOWEVER, if you'll see the other thread I started regarding EL wire, depending on how durable and thick EL wire is, you could feasibly braid it together to make a bullwhip and then use a stock lightsaber hilt as the handle. Lightwhips anyone?
