Hello All,
Well I found you folks though friends of friends on Myspace.com so I thought I'd check LA-Jedi out.
I've always been a Star Wars geek, but more or less the closet kind until the past two years, so as time passes the geek comes out more and more.
I Finished My first Saber not too long ago so I've stopped using Practice Shinais and have been using it in saber battles with a group I Joined down here in Orange County, but I've been doing this on and off for about six years, so since I found you all I thought one day I'd take a trip up to LA and join in once and a while.
My other hobbies are Computer Gaming, Offset Printing, Silk Screen Printing, Graphic Arts, for many years I traveled with a guild to different Ren-Faire locations in California preforming Live Steel Combat, and my Current Project is My Stormtrooper armor, I enjoy doing Charity work and just started going to cons.
And I love BBQs and Bonfires
I do have a few questions though, and I guess I should explain why I ask, In the group I come from we practice actual Saber Combat using a hit point system, two arms or two legs, or the combo is a Win, or hitting the torso including back, butt and shoulders is a one hit win, also the hits on the sabers them selves are and can be hard but when striking an opponent it's never done with force that can hurt.
So I'm not quite sure how you guys operate, because I know some sabers that have led's in the blade tend to black out when hit so I don't know if you guys are more directed toward practicing fight sequences than unscripted combat, or if you do both...
But the saber I own was ordered from TheCustomSaberShop.com, i selected the different hilt pieces, electronics, blade, and had a blast putting it together., the blade is battle worthy and holds up very well.
- Andrew.
