CODE OF CONDUCT
The following is the Code of Conduct that all participants in the social group known as L.A. Jedi must adhere to in order to be a member of L.A. Jedi. This Code of Conduct is also applicable to the online forums at www.lajedi.com. The Code of Conduct shall be enforced by the instructors of L.A. Jedi. Currently, the instructors of L.A. Jedi are known as “The Abbott.” “Jenzo”, “Ramznation” and “Darth Sybot”
GOAL: Our goal at L.A. Jedi is to have fun. We are a social organization for the enjoyment of its members related to replicas and toys known as “lightsabers.” Safety is always our first concern. We engage in safe classes and demonstrations. AT NO TIME is the goal for any one to hit another. Any use of the lightsabers between people is choreographed. Please remember this is not a martial arts or fighting class. While some members bring their martial arts experience to L.A. Jedi, as it pertains to lightsaber choreography, it is for instructional purposes only. L.A. Jedi is not a martial arts class. We are a social organization for fun.
L.A. Jedi is not an organization for fighting or engaging in any physical contact either directly or through the use of lightsabers with others. Any member of L.A. Jedi that purposefully engages in such activity will be banned from participation and membership with L.A. Jedi, at the discretion of the instructors.
The social group, L.A. Jedi, collectively and its members individually, will not be held liable (directly, indirectly or vicariously) for the negligent acts of its members either during a meeting of L.A. Jedi, official or otherwise, or outside of a meeting of L.A. Jedi. This means that you are responsible for your own actions. L.A. Jedi does not engage in any form of combat or fighting. If a member engages in such activity, it is with the acknowledgment that he/she is acting independently of L.A. Jedi and its members.
If an instructor or other member learns of an L.A. Jedi member engaging in combat, fights or competitions (legal or illegal) and the member represents his or her self as a member of L.A. Jedi in such activity, then that member may be subject to being banned from further participation with L.A. Jedi, at the discretion of the instructors.
We are a social organization that is open to the public. Anyone is welcome to join, but not everyone is welcome to stay. L.A. Jedi will not tolerate insults, slurs or disrespect between its members at L.A. Jedi meetings, classes or on the online forums. This includes such insults, slurs and disrespect to other groups, clubs, or forums. There are a lot of Star Wars fans and groups out there – there is room for everyone. Please do not bag on another clubs via anyone’s forums, even if it is not ours. You are representing L.A. Jedi when you do so and it is our policy to respect everyone. There will be no remarks in class or online that are negative or derogatory in any way. Remarks regarding weight, race, gender or sexual preference will not be tolerated. This includes heckling other students. At L.A. Jedi we encourage, we do not discourage. We are promoting fun, safety and friendship.
Lajedi.com’s forums are to encourage discussion about L.A. Jedi, Star Wars and other such topics (unless the forum topic is specifically about a different subject). Please do not come onto lajedi.com’s forums to promote outside clubs, services or other websites (including SPAM).
Please do not contact or speak to any journalist, news organization or entertainment news program (including radio programs) without notifying and getting permission from the instructors of L.A. Jedi first. The instructors and major players are authorized to speak on behalf of L.A. Jedi. You might be excited to share L.A. Jedi with the world and want to get the word out, but the press is an animal that is hard to control. You could accidentally say something that could be taken out of context and damaging to L.A. Jedi and/or its members. So, please let the instructors do all the speaking on behalf of L.A. Jedi.
Flirtation, while fine before and after class, has no place during L.A. Jedi class. The men and women of L.A. Jedi are all here for the same reason. We want all of our members to feel comfortable attending L.A. Jedi classes and meetings with a feeling that it is a safe haven. Fending off advances could make some of our members uncomfortable. If any member feels uncomfortable, please confide in one of the instructors so that the matter may be handled appropriately.
If any member fails to abide by the Code of Conduct, an instructor will take the time to advise the member to do so. Continuous or an egregious failure to adhere to L.A. Jedi’s code of conduct could result in suspension or banning from L.A. Jedi.
