Yes. For a special situation I would have no hesitation about pushing the envelope a bit.
You should get your costume on Tuesday, I believe. If you can show it to your friends on Wednesday (or even Tuesday night) and they like the workmanship, they could email right away with measurements, color schemes and parts they want to order.
So what they could do this weekend is get accurate measurements all ready to send AND be planning what to say in the emails about what they need. I can quickly send Paypal requests for the appropriate amounts.
Judging by their mailing addresses, I can group orders together if it will save postage.
Here's what I will need:
chest (at largest point)
waist (at the spot where you want the obi to rest) plus however much extra length you want in the obi to lap over and get pinned
tunic length (shoulder seam to where you want the tunic to fall ... usually mid-thigh)
hips (to be sure nothing gets cut too snug for comfort)
sleeve from shoulder joint to wrist or wherever you want the sleeve to end (to be sure the sleeves aren't too short or long)
leg (how long from the waist to your ankle - specify outseam or inseam) if you are getting pants
shoulder to floor or however long you want the robe to hang (if you are getting a robe)
I don't usually promise as fast a sewing cycle as I know I can do. And a good thing, too, when flu hits!!
If I get all the above info in emails on Thursday & Friday and payment by Saturday,
I can produce 3 or 4 tunic sets for mailing by Wednesday the 12th. If one of your friends desperately needs a robe, I could do that plus 3 tunic sets. Pants if needed take 1 hour!
Now you know my secrets!
Most of my current customers have no deadlines - as I found out when telling about my flu. For instance, there is an anniversary present in the works for April ! ! ! That can wait for a bit while I help get you and your friends the items they need soonest.
Feel free to forward all this to your friends and ask them to get accurate measurements - just in case!
Thanks,
Donna
I want you guys if you like her work to agree to give her exclusivity so I can continue to drop her prices. Although many of us im sure know people that can make costumes, if she can provide a higher quality one then logically it makes more sense moreso if you are spending the same type of money and or time since that should also be a factor. For anyone who choses to jump the gun and wants to talk to her now here is her email address. dwymyn@inreach.com and her name is donna de george
also i will be bringing the "mistake" one that she gave me tomorrow which I posted pictures on myspace that jen saw already. So technically I'll have two outfits. I'll be bringing the different materials she uses and what mine looks like...and the thingyey as well...so you guys will have a bunch of options.
