The sisters and I were talking about this. The LA Maraton. When the topic came up, the little light bulb inside my head turned on. Viv is planning on running all 26 miles. Anyway, maybe some of us members can sign up for it too. For us lazy fat bodies (such as myself who who can't run all of them no thanks to my ankle), we could probably do the 5k, or maybe members can set up at various stations and do a relay race. Maybe we can have an LA Jedi Banner with us to promote the group.
I figure, If guys (and some ladies) can do the Marthon in Elvis outfits, or people getting married in Brides' dress & Tuxedos why not have Jedis (and Sith) in it too. Hey, even for those who don't plan on running all of it, maybe some Jedi can be chased by Sith ...See there will be some running. I think the 501st did it last year, if I'm not mistaken.

That sounds like a really cool idea. I wouldn't mind running at all. Would we be in our Jedi Costumes or something like that?

Like I said, if there are guys in Elvis costumes, why not Jedi & Sith?

I have to close down the streets for the run. Without me, there is no Marathon.

i run the l.a. marathong every year, along with several local races 26.2 miles and other distances... i think that it would be good to volenteer for a water station... viv and i plus other runners could make up "TEAM L.A. JEDI" (on front) shirts with the website on the back and some quote take off from the movies... "judge me by my running do you?" HOWEVER, cotton is death for endurance running, it's heavy, doesn't breath, and chaffes... BAD!!! if we were going to get shirts made, they are going to be pricy, Coolmax shirts start at something like 20 bucks... i am willing to buy a shirt to take to a screen printer if need be. i ran in cotton shirts for the America's Baby Cancer Foundation and it sucked!!! wearing cotton shirts that is, not the running for them part.
thinking of running the L.A. marathon in a tunic...much heat stroke i sense in your future. the last three years oif the race, the temp got up in the 80's and the 2004 race hit 90 degrees at 8:30 am. not a good thing to me in full jedi or sith costume.
now for something i did...
the 2005 Las Vegas marathon i ran in my bartending uniform raising money from bartenders and food service workers from L.V. and i flaired a bottle and tin the ENTIRE WAY!!! i chaffed in places i never knew i had. the only thing i had on that was for running were my compression shorts (running underwear) and running shoes. it sucked for weeks, so i donot suggest jedi or sith costumes... the ELVIS runners all use a special jumpsuit that is coolmax and breaths very well... i know that one of uses full makeup in his sith costume... hmmm let me guess... makeup is a very bad idea to run in, espically the grease stuff, because your body needs to breath and sweat properly taking on a 26.2 mile run and the make up doesn't let the covered skin do either one. remember, Paradiphinies (sp) died at the end of his run across the plaines of Marathonis doing the first marathon, and the last three years people have died running the L.A. marathon, and i would hate to have a fellow Jedi transform into the Force before his or her time!
think about hte waterstation thing! it's a great idea and you will only have to be in costume for a few hours, not running!

These words from a pro. The water station sounds great. When I worked the marathon last year, the feeling was great, just standing there. I was at the corner of Pico and Figueroa, in front of the convention center. I would love to be part of the water station, but I might have to direct traffic. I'm gonna give Dave and Vivian a clear shot to win the race. Good luck guys!!!

I know know how bad a cotton t-shirt can be. I remember those 10 mile death runs up the "Trail of Tears" at Pendleton. How about a A cool max shirt, and get some Iron on Transfers with LAjedi?
Whoa know, I know I'm crazy, but not craZy enough to run the whole thing in a Tunic. Heck, walking from Hall A to Hall C at Comic-Con made me break a Sweat with the Tunic, Undershirt, and cloak on.
Thanks for the info on Elvis outfits, that I didn't know. Well, I guess LAjedi on the shirts will do. ...Hey I got a few Sharpies.

Ramz, there is a whole society of running elvis's.. elvi? i was going to become one, however i found the cancer foundation. the only drawback to the ELVIS thing is finding a wig that doesn't overheat your head. some of the elvis's have coustom boots that are infact running shoes that look like leather boots the king used in concert. it get's expensive, and as diverse as Jedi and Sith stuff. crazy stuff bro!!!!
hmmm... if i could make a cool max tunic... interesting this is

If you have hair, then you don't need to wear a wig! 8P The sideburns itch like a mother sometimes, though.
I'm working on a Jedi Elvis costume, just for kicks.
Oh dang - are we talking about running? Ugh - pass... at least for now... I'm no where near in shape enough to be running freakin' marathons.

I only run when chased. (Stolen from 'Real Genius'.)
The water station in full costume with a banner sounds fun. What is the date?

Marathon is tomorrow, and there really hasn't been much been said about it so I guess no LAjedi at the Marathon.
