I had an idea for the "Star Wars Fan Day" in June. What if we were to choreograph a duel, and somehow contact Disneyland, introduce ourselves in a similar way to the 501st and get their permission to perform it in a designated area in Tomorrowland? Think we could pull this off? In my opinion it would almost be like a fast paced version of their "Jedi Academy" show, but do you think they would like that?
I had a couple of ideas, for example....
1. No one can be "killed" in the duel, so at the end, the Sith has to run away or something like that. 2. The Jedi has to win, because well, it's Disneyland! ;D 3. We have to let them know we do not want any profit from this at all.
Let me know what you guys think, and I'll bring out my "script" that I thought up

if the 501'st does a show for the starwars day, the best thing you could do to find out how is to contact them or the guys at the website www.starwarsdisneyland.com/ (they probably organize it) to see what it takes. remember, it's disney and the hoops you will have to jump through are going to be many. trust me on that one.

You never know what other events it could come in handy.

well if you're expecting an extremely gripping story filled with suspense romance, and drama.... you're gonna be kinda disappointed and please forgive me, this is horribly written as far as scripts go Try to imagine an audience standing around a cleared out "arena" sort of area if you can I kind of designed it to be for Disneyland so here goes, A Jedi will come out and introduce himself/herself , as one of the Jedi who is part of the "new" academy stationed here on Earth. He/She is excited that understanding of the force is reaching to distant parts of the galaxy. Suddenly the Jedi stops and looks around nervously, and says "I sense a disturbance in the force." A red lightsaber ignites from within the audience, and it's Sith wielder walks forward towards the Jedi while saying something "Sith -like" (I'm running short on dialogue ideas) The Jedi takes out their lightsaber and duels the Sith Here's where things depend on the situation, if this performance is for a convention or event of that sort, then it's okay for anything to happen (Jedi dies, Sith dies, escapes etc.) If the performance is for a place where "death" is a subject to be avoided, then the Jedi could somehow break the Sith's defense and tell him to leave rather than "killing" him. The Sith could then run away. Well, that's it! feel free to rip/edit/delete this as you please, constructive criticism is greatly appreciated! ;D

Hey guys! Just to let you know the real 411 The 501st is not appart of the jedi academy at D-land. At Disneyworld, the 501st does sometime march in the parade but that is on Star Wars weekends. Now as for shows, you could ask but they have a their own ideas, that is they think of the most kid and family friendly show to put on. But most of all George Lucas or LFL approves the shows. The Jedi Academy was made years ago with LFL approval. So, in a nut shell, you have to ok through LFL and Disneyland. But do not stop trying, I'm sure if you put on a good show and it was in line with Lucas vision that they would be open to it. Cheers Rob

I love your idea! But, my first thoughts were 1) Disneyland is very picky about allowing non "staff members" into the park in costume. 2) They won't like it intefering with "Jedi Academy."
But, I love your idea. I'm thinking, especially with the no dying thing, performing for elementary schools and childrens' wards in hospitals. And, it would be great if we could get the kids involved, like they do at the Jedi academy.
"Saying something Sithlike," Hmn, well, I guess Cosmo, Kit or Marius might be the experts, but, maybe something derived from the movie like, "I'm here to save these children from your lies, Jedi!" Or to the kids, "Don't listen to those Jedi lies! Do you want to grow up weak and spineless like Obi Wan and the other Jedi or strong and fearless like me?"

i think convincing Disneyland this is a good idea is quite a longshot, but Varekei has a better idea with hospitals and elementary schools

My students love when I bring in my lightsabers. They would flip if a Sith busted in and we had a epic battle in the classroom.
That's a great idea.

sounds like a great idea jpbeck! now you just need a Sith and some permission from the school lol
btw, let this thread die, disneyland is way too far fetched. if you wanna think of an idea for the classroom, let's use a new thread

We could stay in th Disneyland parking lot and spread the Star Wars love to everyone. About the school and hospitals, you don't have to tell me more than once. I love kids. Let me know.

All fun stuff. But Disney is corporate and have tons of training for anyone involved in any way with Disney. They have liability issues and would never allow an outside group to perform. But it's all fun to think about!

Ok, Disneyland is a way off but let me give you a little bit of history. A couple of years ago the Jedi Training Academy was sponsered by Burger King at C3 in Indinapolis. The show was almost the same except no Darth Maul. My thinking, LFL presented this to Disney and they like the idea that they could bring this on stage and have guest be apart of this. So, it fit right in to their tomorrow land stage. The elements they used... Humor, Jedi master try to be funny...they really try. Drama, Vader and Maul, trying to take over the young kids Crowd inter action. Entertaining, everyone stops and watches it star wars fan or not.
If you can come up this a presentation that has those type of elements I sure that LFL and Disney would be open to it.
Like everything else, we start small and build up a buzz from that. Then the next step once it is set show it to LFL. Once they are on a board then everyone else will except it. Remeber! If LFL doesn't like it then no one will because you do not want a S&D.
So, go for it and I will be happy to help out! Rob By the way, I have a story Jedi vs Sith that we did down in OC if you want to hear it.
