Hi! I'm planning on attending Sunday's class, and wanted to find out what my best option would be for my first practice staff -- I don't really have much, if any, money to spend, but imagine that something like a broom handle would be a poor choice. Any tips you can offer would be great. Thanks!

Hello There G-Force here go to the next page of this Thread and you will see tutorials to make inexpensive PVC Single and Double Practice Sabers.

Thanks for the tips! But is there something simpler for the first timer that you might recommend? For example, if I just showed up with three feet of PVC pipe or similar, would that be all right?

that would be cool... as long as it is roughly the length of a saber (three and a half feet-ish) you should be pretty good. that and it would not cost that much for such a leingth of pvc pipe, or some such material.

Hello and welcome. FYI tomorrow's class is canceled due to rain.
Inexpensive sabers would be broom handle's (as You mentioned), PVC pipe (as receommended by G-Force and Bar-Jedi), or as a last resort...Hasbro Lightsabers.
As far as PVC pipe, we have a couple of them already cut to the approx length of a Staff Saber.
