Because of D at the LA jedi X-mas party. I just bought a force FX lightsaber construction set from radio-shak. And here's my impression.
This lightsaber comes with 15 interchangeable cover pieces, all of which I don't care for and have taken off. (The pieces are designed to give it a vader look, obi, or luke appearance, 5 sections each with 3 different variations). They are all loose on connection and bells and whistle make it hard to do saber spin. The emitter caps are all metal so I guess that some amount of quality.
The key feature that made me grab this is the fact that you can change color on the fly, between red, green, and blue, but only when all of the cover pieces are off. Another problem, but essentially fixable, is turning it on. It is push button like pen on, and off, but because its so sunken in, one is easily fooled on how to turn in on. You press it thinking you did it all the way but didn't. I'll be making a special cap to raise that button to make it easier to push all the way down.
I placed my review of this saber because I believe that the core must have a trilux. I have dippy dark apprentice lux3 from ultrasabers. I compared the two, and found that g-force is right. At the base where the emitter is, the brightness is identical, but my dark apprentice has better diffusion and seem brighter at the end than the radioshak saber. From this I could only guess the led is the same a lux3, but the light diffuser has not yet been fully developed on the trilux LED's as seen on this Radioshak saber. This is a keeper, but will be changed slightly (it has green and black bands that I'll simply paint over). I'll be trying to open it up in a careful fashion to be easily reassembled to fix the button and post my finding. I had already been planning to make a saber that uses the trilux, but can change through 7 color via a turn dial on the base.
I still plan to make that saber, but also with a sound board, lithium batteries, and a completely redesigned hilt that can be disassembled with no tools and stunt ready.

s45.photobucket.com/albums/f58/Ti-el_Terall/?action=view¤t=endortrilux.flvThis guy is the first but he did it with 3 potentiametors and you have to physically figure out how much of each color you need to get the right shade. I plan to make knob that lets you do 7 colors; white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. And also for clashing and cutting have it stay is set color but flash white, lots of logic and circuit design but super fun! I've already bought a cheapy tri LED and a rotary switch to test out my principles and it totally works, now I just need to wait the nutsty 4 week lead time for my Luxeon rebel star.
