So I got bored recently and decided to contribute my interpretation of Vapaad by creating a fighting form.

My interpretation of Vaapad is influenced by several points in this article:
1. Lightning fast, whipping attacks
2. Free-wheeling and open movements
3. Staccato swings and flow
Also, based on an interview with Samuel L. Jackson at

"You do a lot of kendo training [with the choreographers], and because I'm a huge fan of Japanese samurai films, I came with this particular style of mine that I've been working on," Jackson said in an interview. "I mix that with some proper fencing techniques, because I took fencing in acting school. So I combined some kendo with some fencing with some street fighting, and I have a pretty efficient and cool kind of fighting style. Mine is a no-nonsense, waste-no-time, get-out-of-my-way-quick kind of style."

Section 1 “Blocking and Countering”
Begin in “Starkiller Stance”
Step Forward High Block Right/High Block Left, High Parry
Spin Step, LS Strike, RS Strike, step forward cut down to head, thrust (any height)
Step back, open position, standing at 45 degrees
Section 2 “Straightforward attack”
Step forward LH Strike, RH Strike, single hand strike to legs, spin step cut downward to head, step forward high thrust.
Step back in “Starkiller Position”
Section 3 – “Wide Blitz”
Full step forward, inverted slice, continue forward momentum as you full step forward again switch hands in open position and continue to a behind the back switch to figure 8 (3x). Continue with a behind the back spin (Anakin Spin) to a LS Attack, RS Attack, leg sweep and end in an aggressive neutral stance.
Section 4 – Blocking, Countering to “Coup De Grace” Finish
High Block Right/High Block Left/High Parry to Head Cut
Inverted grip to Inverted Figure 8 (3x) as you move forward
Continue the momentum into a reverse slice to the body
Jump spinning wheel kick (optional of course!)
Drop on one knee and do a reverse thrust.
Finish in “Starkiller Stance”
