From www.figures.com/databases/action.cgi?setup_file=fignews2.setup&category=actionfigures&topic=77&show_article=579&nl=1According to reports, newcomer collectibles manufacture eFX has been awarded the license to make "collectible, limited edition replicas of both full-sized and scaled props; studio-and reduced-scale vehicles and ships; full-sized helmets; and high-end, die-cast vehicles and ships that encompass the entire Star Wars universe" while Star Wars master license holder Hasbro has been awarded the license to make high-end replica light sabers. “Working with both Hasbro and eFX allows us to bring Star Wars fans some of the best collectibles we have ever offered,” said President of Lucas Licensing Howard Roffman. “These are incredibly creative, innovative companies with a real passion for Star Wars, and we think it’s going to show in the products they offer.” While products from eFX won't debut until San Diego Comic Con (and thus much later this year), Hasbro's new "Force FX" line of collectibles, due out this spring, will include Darth Vader, Luke Skykwalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Maul, and Yoda light sabers/weapons. With luck, both Hasbro and eFX will continue the long tradition of high quality set by former Star Wars replica and light saber manufacturer Master Replicas.

Just thought you all would be interested in this: I was hunting for another Obi-Wan lightsaber, and did a search for "star wars force fx lightsaber" at amazon.com. In the results, there are 6 results which have NO PHOTO and NO PRICE, and are listed as "Currently Unavailable - We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Here's the kicker: at the bottom of each link, it says "Other products by Hasbro"!!!!! I arranged them in price order, and they're all placed between products at $129.99 and $139.99, so it appears that the Hasbro line should be out anytime soon. I'm not sure if this is some kind of error on Amazon's part or what; there's still no indication whatsoever at the Hasbro site... Oh, the 6 they've got listed are: Vader, Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Luke, and Darth Maul. I'm crossing my fingers! -Bruce (I tried to add a screen cap of the product screen, but it doesn't seem to be working...) UPDATE: I just found a date on Amazon that says July 1, and something about "freight collect"...

Here is a message from Amy Blanchard @ eFX from back in April. Hi Everyone! Long time no see! As you can see, eFX is up and running! It has been a very exciting few months for us planning and designing our upcoming line of Star Wars collectibles. I can't really talk about it yet but you will find out soon enough and I can promise you will not be dissapointed! As most of you have probably heard, we have announced our very first product from eFX! The Stormtrooper helmet! As many of you know, Master Replicas was unable to finish their full run of this product. The edition size was supposed to be 2,500 but they were only able to produce a little over 1,000 before their license expired resulting in the cancellation of about 500 pre-orders. Lucasfilm became aware of this issue and discussed it with us to determine a way to help out the fans and fix this short fall. Rather than see disappointed fans facing high prices on e-Bay, etc., Lucasfilm granted eFX special permission to make additional helmets at this time, even though it was not part of our original product plan. The Stormtrooper helmet will be available for pre-order on May 5th. It is a very, very limited run of 500 so be sure to get your order in early if you want one. I don't think they are going to last long. If you haven't done so already, please take a minute to register on our website at www.efxcollectibles.com so you can receive our email updates about this product and all of our exciting upcoming products as well. It is great to be back as a proud member of the eFX team. I have missed talking with all of you. If you have any questions let me know and I will do my best to answer them for you. Amy L. Blanchard Customer Service Manager eFX Inc. From what I hear the release date for the eFX will be on 07-28-08 (so I'm sure I'll purchase one at SDCC). I believe the Obi-Wan epIV will be LE. Most of you know I'm not too fond of LE (if you seen my MR FX Ani EpII), but something cool I heard is that is "reversable" so you can open it and see the inner guts of the saber which I think is pretty cool. I'm not for sure if this is 100% true, but I'll find out on the 28th of July.

Man, I hope that Habro make these sabers as good as MR did (except for the Mace because of that frakking switch problem and the Luke for the fact it cuts people's hands up)!

From what I understand, eFX is doing everything EXCEPT the lightsabers... Helmets, replica ships, weapons, etc.
Hasbro is doing the Force FX lightsabers... (fingers crossed for July 1st!)

I was told these are the new Hasbros. The Vader ANH and Ani ROTS pictured above appear to be just a re-hash of the old MRs.

Hi all - Just swung by the eFX site today and saw that they have a pic of their first saber hilt replica up... no explanations or anything, just a picture. Looks KINDA like a Luke Ep IV, but there are subtle differences that I haven't been able to put my finger on. Check it out at www.efxcollectibles.com/! EDIT: corrected website URL EDIT 2: Just went back to the site and the hilt doesn't look like a Luke EpIV at all... my eyes must be playing tricks on me. It's a saber I have not previously seen before.

the lightsaber on the EFX website is a character from the Clone wars series named Ahsoka Tano Supposed to be Anakin's Padawan I guess, that's why her lightsaber resembles a graflex starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ahsoka_Tano

In case anyone is interested, I just got an e-mail from BriansToys.com letting me know they've got the Hasbro Obi-Wan Force FX Lightsaber in stock, for $99.99. So I checked the site, and here's what I found (see image). I can't afford one right now, so if any of you get one, please post a review and pics! img60.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1zb2.jpg-da Pepsi

They, may *look* the same as the MRs, but I'm waiting for someone who's actually *got* one of each (Hasbro & MR) to do a side-by-side comparison. The Obi-Wan I got to pick up and feel at ComicCon was mostly plastic and not nearly as heavy.
However! Shortly after ComicCon, the Hasbro sabers were delayed for another couple of months, I'm betting because they got such bad feedback at the show, they decided to go back and NOT be so cheap. That's what I'm hoping, anyway. I was pretty vocal about my disappointment; I'll bet others were, too!

the maker was working for MasterReplicas, and i think he had to find another company (like hasbro) to help him make the collectible force fx lightsabers.

I saw the new Hasbro sabers at Toys R Us. I was able to pull open the Luke saber. I looks good. I'm gonna go to Frank and Son this Saturday to see if any vendors have on out to play with.
